Our choir had a terriffic visit to England. Two weeks beginning in Manchester-York-Cambridge-St. Albans-London-Canterbury-Guilford-Salisbury-London. Our CD will be available soon. The music was terrific. I think the Brits expected us Americans to show up in tee shirts and jeans. I didn't expect to be so impressed with the cathedrals. The acustics were flawless. We had a great deal of time being tourists and took full advantage (Stonehenge, Les Miserable, Royal Ballet at Covent Garden, Kings College, Westminster Abbey, white cliffs of Dover, Castle Howa |

I met Sam in Kennebunk where we spent a week, mostly with college friend Catherine Hillen (Sam's Godmother) and her six year old son. She's only a mile from the timeshare Pat has there so there was a little stress around that. Sadly Sam broke his arm (actually the growth plate in his shoulder) and has been en sling ever since. We took a little drive up the northern coast of Maine to visit former Charleston friends - Richard and Patty Show -- who have purchased a resort on Little Deer Island. It is right on the water with canoes, a Trimeran, row boats and various kinds of powered boats. Lots of seals and eagles. We spent the day hiking in Arcadia National Forest (great) and driving through and away from Bar Harbor (terrible). Sam started seventh grade on August 10th. He is very pleased to be in a class with all his close friends. 36 students in his homeroom class. |
