The Katie FAQ

Thanks for visiting "Sleepless in Atlanta...". I was calling my web page by that name because I was always up late working on this web site, sending e-mail, or just surfing or reading and watching Nick at Nite. The humble beginning of this web site was a 486 computer with a 66 mhz processor running Windows 95 and using not more than a 28.8 modem! YIKES! Now I've got a computer with unbelivable specs and a cable modem. LOVE IT!

1.    What is your full name?

My full name is Katherine Elizabeth Cauthen Francisco, but I just go by Katie.

2.    When and where were you born?

I was born in 1975 in Rome, Georgia, USA and pretty much spent all my life there until 1997.

3.    Where did you go to school?

I was an honors graduate of Rome High School in 1993, but not before I spent three years of my life at West Rome High School (Go Chiefs!). Would you believe that the city school board had the gall to shut down my beloved high school right before my senior year and force me and all my classmates to spend our senior year with our crosstown rivals, East Rome, in a brand new high school? It was terrible. Not really, but I like to complain. Another interesting tidbit is that my mother taught me at home for fourth through sixth grades. That was an interesting experience. I can't really say that I am any better for it, but I am definitely not against home-schooling. I attended Berry College and graduated with a BS in political science in December of 1996. While in college, I interned with former US Senator Sam Nunn's Atlanta office and the Floyd County District Attorney's office. I also attended Floyd College and Georgia State University as a transient student. After college, I elected to pursue my paralegal certificate at The National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta. That's when I moved here for good. I got my paralegal certificate in May of 1997, but decided that I didn't like the atmosphere of the big Atlanta law firms, so I didn't put my certificate to use in the legal profession.

4.    What did you do after paralegal school?

I decided that I would try my hand at real estate. I got my real estate license and worked for Jenny Pruitt & Associates from June of 1997 until November of 1997. It was a losing proposition. Real estate takes a long time to get started in and you really need to have a lot of money to work with. I didn't, so I decided to move on. I applied to be a server at Mick's at Cumberland Mall. I started working there in October of 1997 and worked there through June of 1998 as both a server and delivery driver. Lots of fun, but REALLY hard work. I don't recommend waiting tables, unless you are willing to work hard and enjoy having a lot of fun. It will mess up your schedule and make you crazy, but it can be $rewarding$.

5.    What do you do now?

In April of 1998, I was hired by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, PAGE, to be the academic bowl coordinator and work with the scholarship program. Very fitting because I participated in PAGE's academic bowl program in junior high, then received their now-defunct academic bowl scholarship when I graduated from high school! I moved on from that position in July of 2001 and began working as a Membership Service Representative for the same organization. I am basically a glorified sales rep, but it's a lot of fun and I get to travel all over the northwest corner of the state.

6.    Are you single?

Nope, I'm married, since October 14, 2000. I'm going to be putting together a wedding page/pages for the web site, but that will take some time. My husband can be seen in lots of photographs on the site, though!

7. What kind of car do you drive?

I got a 1999 Ford Mustang in July of 1999 and it looks just like this...

7. Who is your ideal Lord of the Rings mate?

your ideal mate is Frodo!

8. What cocktail are you?

You're a cosmopolitan! Your drink is made up of vodka, triple sec and cranberry juice. The ultimate style guru your other loves are cats and eating out. A sophisticated little star!
