KCRFC (3 seed)  11   Austin Blacks (2 seed)  27

Gateway Park, Ft. Worth, TX

The 11:00a kick-off matched the Heart of America champion KCRFC against the Texas Union champion and Elite 8 qualifier Austin Blacks.  Again right out of the gate the City team showed no fear with Tony Buckley running in the first score of the game.  Austin came back with a penalty kick due to a City Penalty but City came back down and took advantage of a penalty by Austin and fly half Tim Davies converted.  City’s set pieces, lineouts, and defense were spectacular until Austin punched one in and converted just before half.  Half time Austin 10 KCRFC 8.

City came right out and played in the Austin half of the field and soon got a penalty the Davies converted for City to take the lead 11-10.  After some more good defense and set pieces the warm weather and advantage of Austin having a first round by took its toll as they scored a try, City then missed a penalty kick and knocked on the ball at the 3 meter line.  Austin ran in two late tries and converted to finish the game.  It was an exciting game and very well played the City club.
