Game Highlights

KCRFC 43 Des Moines RFC 10
Bartlett Field, Des Moines, IA

Kansas City opened the scoring the good ball retention when center Brian Cichello took a pass from Fly half Tim Davies and blasted into the try zone. Davies converted. Des Moines came back a scored a try of their own to close the with in 2 points 7-5. Winger Terry Nelson then scored on pick up from the ruck on the left side and Davies again made the conversion. On the kick off City lost the ball and DMRFC scored on a grubber kick into the tryzone. KCRFC came back and scored just before half time when Center Mark Dunning took a crash ball and broke numerous tackles to score under the post and again Davies made the the conversion. City 21-10 at half.

The second half was all the pack. With two scores by Eight man Mike Haase, one coming on a eightman pick up at center field and busting through the defense and out running the backs. Scrumhalf Andy Dujakovich also scored twice off good ball retention pick up from the base of the ruck and plopping over for the two scores. Final City 43-10.

The b-side match became a ten's game due to the lack of players on the Des Moines side, but it was still a opportunity for some young players to gain some experience. Rookie Del Hedgepath scored on the right wing for his first try of his career and a delightful Zulu after the match. Gary Boston got some good experience at scrumhalf and Dariel Edwards got in his first game on the wing and began the learning process. Good job by all.
