KCRFC vs St. Louis Bombers

      6th March 1999

On a cold dreary day, K C R F C traveled to the arch city of St Louis, to play the first of two hard games. Entering the game with thought of the win from last year, City exploded from the start with fierce forward play that kept the larger pack at bay. With controlled runs and kicks from the backs the game was a stale mate most of the way through the first half. A drop goal by Tony Buckley finally put the visitors up by 3pts. Then the home team came back with pressure to score two tries before half time to lead 10-3.

The second half started just as the first, with good runs by both teams. Then a try from Troyce DeBerg that was converted tied the game. The pressure built on the city backs, then the Bombers broke through with about 10 minutes left in the game. The Bombers scored what turned out to be a very crucial try. The gates then opened up after that and the home team scored two more tries to make the final score 10-29

      ATHLETICS

The Athletics put up a good showing under the circumstances and played with heart and determination. They had a poor showing of players with even the coach having to strap on his boots. The temperature continued to drop and the game was played in very cold conditions. It resulted in low scoring game with the final score of 5-17 to the home team. Terry Nelson with a try was the only score for the Athletics.

Thank you lads, for everyone who made the trip.
