Des Moines at KCRFC

      4th April 1999

After a narrow defeat the week before against K. U. Des Moines came down to Kansas City looking for a win that was not to be. After a frustrating weekend before, City was ready to prove to their fans and themselves what they could do on the rugby field.

The first half produced some good rugby but City could not get their game to where they wanted it. They scored 3 good tries to put pressure on the visitors. The second half was much of the same with a lot of following rugby. KCRFC could not dominate all of their set pieces, as they would have liked but scored another 3 tries to 1 by the visitors. They did not have the continuity of weeks before but came away with a convincing win with a final score 36-7.

      Des Moines vs Athletics

The Athletic side showed a good performance by beating a strong side from Iowa. With the arrival of the two boys from Wales Tim Davies and John Stock the team played with heart and passion and some very impressive tries from all phases of play. The team is starting to improve their standard but they need to keep the interest within the squad.

Tries by Neal Snow (3) Terry Nelson and Shawn Gordinier(2) and Tim Davies with 5 conversions brought the final score to 45-7
