KCRFC at KU in Lawrence

      24th April 1999

      After a low time for the team with a defeat at Springfield, the team came back with two good training sessions early in the week. KCRFC came back to play one of their better games of the season against their bitter rivals - the KU Jayhawks. The game started as a showcase kickoff for the Westerns High-School Championships at Westwood Park in Lawrence. With both teams testing each other, KU scored first with a powerful try by the center, but then missed the extra point. A penalty conversion by Tim Davies made it 3-5. Minutes later KU got in to the try zone, but failed to score because of an excellent tackle by the #8 Mike Haase. Halftime came with a score of 6-8 for the home team.

      The second half produced some outstanding rugby by KCRFC with trys by Mark Dunning and Jamie Musick. This sealed the game 28-8 to shut out the home team in the second half.
