Sesriem

This is our campsite during the 1st visit

Visitors to Sossusvlei usually stay at the MET campsite in Sesriem. Staying at the campsite has an advantage over the hotels located just outside the camp compound. While campers can start driving the 65km gravel road into Sossusvlei before dawn, the gate only opens to non-campers at sunrise. So those staying outside will never get to see the sunrise at Sossusvlei. Though campers lack the luxury of hotel facilities, they can always take a short walk to have a sumptuous meal at the hotel.

It is advisable to book the campsite well in advance during the peak season. Notheless, most of the time they will inevitably allocate you a site in the evening even if you arrive without any piror booking.
