PhairsMiracle: hi, it's liz.

KimInMusic: hi liz! welcome to the aim chat :)

KimInMusic: where are you right now?

PhairsMiracle: Thanks, nice to be here.

PhairsMiracle: in tulsa, OK.

PhairsMiracle: Oklahoma.

KimInMusic: oh wow - how's the tour going?

PhairsMiracle: It's been great. We've played to some great audiences and had some great days off, too.

PhairsMiracle: the bus keeps breaking down, however.

KimInMusic: always nice - those days off...

PhairsMiracle: definitely.

KimInMusic: the first thing i have to ask you about is your podcasts - quite impressive! what made you decide to do podcasts for your site?

PhairsMiracle: well actually, Dino thought of it, but it perfectly fits my creative style.

PhairsMiracle: and in fact...

PhairsMiracle: it has become a really important creative outlet for me. I hope to take it further in the upcoming weeks.

KimInMusic: i think it's so cool for your fans - we're always searching for those 'extras' - live performances, etc. - my favorite is the chat with the Cary Brothers about traveling via rail - so entertaining :)

PhairsMiracle: Yeah, that was great- he's a real sweetheart. We're playing with him tonight.

KimInMusic: nice! so if you're doing podcasts... are you pretty tech savvy? do you have an ipod or a blackberry?

PhairsMiracle: I have an ipod and a blackberry. The ipod is used almost every day; the blackberry, however, has never been used. I don't like to be that easy to get in touch with.

KimInMusic: haha... i know what you mean - that thing makes you almost too accessible

PhairsMiracle: yes.

KimInMusic: so what's on your ipod these days?

KimInMusic: what's getting heavy rotation?

PhairsMiracle: Bloc Party, Lyle Lovett, Desiree, Jane's Addiction. I also have Trey Anastasio's new album.

KimInMusic: awesome - trey's new album is great, isn't it? very fun

PhairsMiracle: I really like it. I saw him with Dave Matthews and Friends and thought he was hilarious and mesmerizing.

KimInMusic: totally... so tell me a little bit about 'somebody's miracle' - what is the significance of the title?

PhairsMiracle: The title is something I was thinking about at the time. It's about respecting and being awed by some of the simple decisions and commitments people make in life.

PhairsMiracle: These are the things that can determine a life's overall happiness.

PhairsMiracle: It's all in the little things...

KimInMusic: absolutely...

KimInMusic: you said of your previous, self titled album, that you were in a place of 2 extremes about a lot of things... it seems you are in a different place now?

PhairsMiracle: Yes. I'm more grounded, and I feel more centered. I can look more deeply into the forces that drive my life.

KimInMusic: how has raising your son changed you in that way?

PhairsMiracle: I think, definitely, being a mother has connected me to a larger sense of connectedness with the world.

KimInMusic: nicely put

PhairsMiracle: thanks.

KimInMusic: you're an artist, you read pieces of original fiction in your podcasts... where are you finding inspiration from these days?

PhairsMiracle: Anywhere and everywhere. I'm always reading fiction so I stay in touch with that side of my creativity.

KimInMusic: very cool... i love your video for the song 'everything to me' - can you tell us about the song and the concept for the video?

PhairsMiracle: The song was written about a previous relationship and the sense of alienation I had from a person I was supposedly so close to.

PhairsMiracle: The weather motif mirrors the tumultuous phases of a relationship going bad.

PhairsMiracle: It was very wet and cold, in actuality.

KimInMusic: ahhh, the metaphors we can draw from our past relationships… i think the video does a very nice job of that

KimInMusic: it's totally elegant

PhairsMiracle: thank you. The production team of Phil Harder and Rick Fuller worked with me on the Why Can't and Extraordinary videos. They are top-notch.

KimInMusic: absolutely - nice work gentleman!!!

KimInMusic: speaking of weather... isn't it crazy that the holidays are right around the corner? it's all of a sudden dark at like 3pm and it's time to start decorating... are you big into the holidays?

PhairsMiracle: I love the holidays. I'm planning a giant Herculean effort to bring all the disparate elements of my family together.

PhairsMiracle: Don't get me started on simmering apple cider spices and wreaths and eggnog.

PhairsMiracle: !

KimInMusic: lol... sounds like my family - fantastic! i know you're from chicago - will you be spending it there or in l.a.?

PhairsMiracle: LA, this year.

KimInMusic: is it strange to spend the holidays in warm weather?

PhairsMiracle: No. I love it. I spent most of my Christmases in Chicago. It's nice to have sunny weather for a change, but I do miss the snow.

KimInMusic: i totally understand - i'm from upstate new york and while i love the snow… kind of had to - the sun and warmth are nice :)

KimInMusic: so 2 more questions and i'll let you go :)

PhairsMiracle: Sure- no problem.

KimInMusic: do you have a favorite song off your latest album? something that you wrote that's closest to you?

PhairsMiracle: 'Table for One' is a very special song for me. It was for a person very close to me.

KimInMusic: you do give a personal touch to your songwriting - it makes it very easy to connect with...

PhairsMiracle: thank you.

KimInMusic: so what's next for you after the tour?

PhairsMiracle: We'll be playing radio shows in December, and then more touring in January.

KimInMusic: fantastic - i hope to catch you when you're back in the north east!

PhairsMiracle: Totally- I love playing out there.

KimInMusic: thanks so much for taking the time to chat, liz

PhairsMiracle: Thank you.

KimInMusic: good luck with the rest of the tour and have a fabulous 'herculean' holiday

KimInMusic: (i'm so stealing that, by the way!)

PhairsMiracle: lol. Thanks!

KimInMusic: bye!

PhairsMiracle: bye
