could have been the son of John or Henry Bliss, sons of John
Bliss, son of George Bliss of Providence and Newport, but is more
likely the son of Samuel Bliss and his second wife, Rebecca
Polley. 21 Feb 1722: Rebecca Bliss, widow of Samuel Bliss,
deceased, appointed guardian of her son John Bliss. Bristol
County Probate Records 4:46. 16 Mar 1727: Joseph Willis of

Samuel Bliss of Rehoboth. Bristol Probate Records, 5:357. [Does
this mean that Rebecca (Polley) Bliss died then?] 21 Oct 1740:
