ince he was listed as one of the
proprietors of Littleworth in April 16951, he was
doubtless of age then and so born as early as 1674. Unless he was
much younger than his wife, he was born still earlier; for he
married Anne Hopkins, daughter of his father’s last wife2;
and we judge she was born perhaps about 1667, since in the
distribution of her grandfather’s estate, she is named
before her brother, Ichabod, and so probably the older of the two,
and he was born in 16693. On 11 May 1695 Suscaneman
and Werah, Indians, confirmed the ownership of Littleworth
Plantation to John Davis, George Downing, Edward Banbury, and
Thomas and William Kirby, sons of Richard Kirby deceased. In so
doing they gave the boundaries of Littleworth as being: On the
north and east; Musketo Cove. On the south; Isaac Doughty’s
land. On the west; Hempstead Harbour4.
Thomas was, like his father, a great buyer of land, and the town records from 1705 to 1720 list a number of parcels of land acquired by him. He and Anne were alive as late as 25 March 1755, on which date they signed a deed5.
