Scene One
Scene One
Dellaventura is called to a playground by Mary Sullivan. Her husband, Jimmy, used to serve a rough Hell's Kitchen gang/mafia, the "Westies", but he went to prison and he's straightened out. Or so she thought--he's disappeared and she can't find him. She's afraid for him--"This is Hell's Kitchen. you don't tell on people here. Not without paying the price." She enlists Dellaventura to track him down, knowing he'll respond to the only cop who treated him like a human being.
Scene Two
Della finds Jimmy and takes Mary to him. They reunite and Jimmy explains that he's been set up. "Westie" boss Flinn suckered Jimmy into doing a small job for him and now he's been blackmailed into something much larger. Della promises to help him out of his situation. Jimmy believes him--and Mary.
Scene Three
Della talks Mary into taking him to Jimmy who's in hiding after the police botched his job for Flinn. Although she's reluctant because she's lost her faith in safety, Della assues her Flinn will come looking for Jimmy and will ask much less nicely than he will. He says, "Believe--that's your gift. You believe in people. Believe in me."
Scene Four
On top of a building, Jimmy and Mary talk while Della waits. Jimmy agrees to talk with Della and shows him his rooftop garden. The cops screwed up and Jimmy is afraid to stay in or leave Hell's Kitchen. Della says to stand up against Flinn and Jimmy asks Mary what to do. She answers, "Whatever you choose to do, I go with you." They kiss.
Scene Five
With the help of Della, Jimmy and Mary defeat Flinn and the final scene shows the couple running off through a playground covered in kids.
