**Ismay delivered the "So, by God, WILL WE!" speech at the dinner table. After his final line in that speech, Bride entered with his iceberg telegram.
**In the same scene, Lightoller reported that the ship's top speed (22 1/2 knots) had been reached and they could go no faster. Smith replied the top speed would have to do--obviously aimed at Ismay.
**In his scene during the first class dining scene, Murdoch delivered his own weather report--”Uncommonly fair for this time of April, sir.”
** Before the Hymn ("God Lift Me Up"), Ismay and Andrews had their confrontation concerning Americans, losing dinners and speed.
**In the lifeboats scene, the only sung music was sung entirely by Charles and Caroline. They briefly reprised "I Give My Hand" before Charles sang "Come Say You Love Me" and "We'll Meet Tomorrow" by himself. There was other background music, however--Hartley's orchestra could be heard playing.
**Separating what are now the "porthole vingettes"--the millionaires' and the crew's--was "Still". The Etches scene with the glass of champagne was little changed. Before beginning "Still", however, the Strausses recalled a South Seas cruise they took where they stood at the rail, holding hands and looking at the water. "We could pretend...Why not pretend?" Mrs. Strauss offers, then the "good looking fella" line, then "Still" began.
**Originally--and true to history--Boxhall survived.
** Farrell immortalized the engineers and stokers who "provided electrical light and heat until the ship went under", Cardoza the musicians "who played right to the end--I never saw any of them again", and Etches the bellboys, all 50 of whom died and "none of them over 15 years old".
**Lightoller reported on the sinking: "I want it known. I did not leave the ship--the ship left me." This quote is based on Lightoller's actual testimony before the US Senate.
