Well since I was here last, school started and I am in the 6th grade! cool! I still don't like math that much, but guess what? I have gotten an "A" both times I have gotten my report card! I had to work really hard for that A and I am very proud of it! I really like my new school! It's really neat! We have a science lab, an art lab, and a computer lab! We are studying about Ancient Egypt right now. Our class is in groups and I am a "Noble" in the nome of Abydos. (prounounced abados) My group is really having fun. I made a pyramid out of sugar cubes and placed little Egyptian people around it. We made a cartouche that says Abydos Rules, my Mom drew it for us in heiroglyphics! On December 5th our class is going to the Dallas Museum of Art to see the exhibition called "Searching for Ancient Egypt".. This should be a really fun field trip!! I will tell you about it after I go. If you click on the word pyramid up there you will go to a really cool site that lets you walk through a pyramid. If you click on heiroglyphics you can see our cartouche!

Searching For Ancient Egypt Exhibition
We got on the bus at 9 am and went to the Dallas Museum of Art. It took us two hours because of all the construction being done on the road!!
We had a tour guide and she showed us the Exhibition. We saw all kinds
of hieroglyphics and my friend and I could read some of it because we learned
it in school. I found on a big inside case where it had come from Lower
Egypt because of the Vulture painted onto it. I told the lady and she said
I was RIGHT! hehehhehe We could read almost all the letters on the cartouches
they had. Isn't that cool?! The mummy was on the third floor and we didn't
have enough time to see it :( I really wanted to see it. I saw all sorts
of cases and a Mummy Cat. They were still in the case and we could see
it from the x-ray they had taken. The cats were sacrificed in honor of
Bastet, she is the Goddess of Joy. She is always shown as a Regal Cat or
a woman with a cat head. Bastet represented the powers of the moon and
she was thought to be the eye of the moon. We also went through the regular
exhibit they keep at the Museum. Searching for Ancient Egypt is a traveling
exhibit. We saw the top of a mummy case and it was really BIG! It was bigger
than I thought it would be. We got to go to the Gift Shop, we saw these
wayyyy cool bookmarks. They were made in Egypt, they had gods on them and
they were also made of real papyrus. So of course I had to get me one,
I collect bookmarks. :)
We all got back on the bus and headed back to school and arrived at
230 pm. That was my day at the Dallas Museum of Art.
