Books dealing with Individual, Marriage and Family issues:

1.  Parent Talk: Straight Answers to the Questions that Rattle Moms and Dads, by Dr. Kevin Leman and Randy Carlson.(Nelson)  This is a book parenting dealing with such everyday parenting topics as discipline, bedtime battles, TV and movies, potty training, sibling rivalry, messy rooms, temper tantrums, bedwetting and offensive language.  Parent Talk uses "reality discipline" to help parents tap into the secret of being a good parent which is to teach children with love and limits, to hold them accountable for their actions, to raise adults, not children.
 
2.  His Needs, Her Needs: Building an Affair-proof Marriage, by Dr. Willard F. Harley, Jr. (Revell)  This books helps the reader learn to identify and meet each other's most important emotional needs.  It focuses on some of the basic emotional needs of wives and husbands.  The interesting aspect of those needs is that wives prioritize them differently than husbands do.  Therefore, there is fertile ground for misunderstanding and unmet needs.  Dr. Harley then helps couples to recognize the needs of one's spouse with helpful hints on meeting those needs.  It is a very good discussion starter in the marital relationship.
 
3.  Give and Take: The Secret to Marital Compatibility, by Dr. Willard F. Harley, Jr. (Revell)  This is a great marital fine-tuning book for couples.  It will give you help in learning to become mor compatible.  Some things you will find out are:
       a.  How couples fall in and out of love.
       b.  Why marital negotiation is so tough.
       c.  How to be thoughtful when you don't feel like it.
       d.  How to overcome selfish demands.
       e.  How to resolve everyday conflicts.
       f.   And, much much more............
 
4.  Adrenalin and Stress,  by Dr. Archibald Hart. (Word Publishing)  This is a classic book written in 1991 for those of us who function in the "fast lane", "on the edge", and "with high intensity", this book will be a help.  It offers helpful insight into stress and it's affects on our
bodies and our minds.  There are helpful areas of instruction on topics such as:
       a.  Monitor your adrenalin arousal and learn how to live on less "flight or fight" emotions.
       b.  Build effective filters to screen out daily stresses.
       c.  Change type-A behavior without changing your basic personality.
       d.  Cooperate with your body and sleep betther, enhance creativity, avoid headaches, heighten spiritual awareness, and lead a fuller, richer life.
    
5.  The Anger Workbook, by Dr. Les Carter and Dr. Frank Minirth. (Nelson)  This is an excellent workbook for those of us who struggle with anger in our lives.  This workbook will help us to understand our anger and to find ways to deal with it that are not destructive to ourselves or to others.  Anger does not have to be shouting, outwardly visible, emotional or violent.  It can be part of emotional expressions such as frustration, irritability, annoyance, aggravation, and worry.  This workbook offers a 13-step interactive program that with help the reader with that most difficult adversary--our anger.
