The Burning Bush The Burning Bush have been described as revelation by reviewers and they combine the talents of some of Britains foremost performers in the field of early and traditional Jewish music. It was formed after singer and broadcaster, Lucie Skeaping was commissioned by the BBC to make a programme to mark the quincentenary of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, and to research her own Jewish roots. Since their sell-out debut concert at Londons Queen Elizabeth Hall, they have performed at major Festivals, art centres and cultural events throughout the UK and much of Europe. In June 1999 they are performing at St Johns Smith Square with The Zemel Choir. Using traditional instruments the group take the audience on a musical journey through the moving and colourful world of Jewish music through the centuries with Chassidic dances, Russian klezmer melodies, comic songs of the Yiddish theatre, songs of the Ghetto and haunting Sephardic ballads of the Old Ottoman world. |
