Mike,
I am sitting in front of my keyboard with a lot to say but too damn mad to put it into words. I know everyone who watched the race had an opinion about Larry McReynold's actions involving the track worker who was trying to unhook the 31Lowe's Chevrolet from the wrecker. Everyone in front of my tv was wondering "Who the hell does that SOB think he is??!!" For those who missed it, the wrecker was bringing the 31 car in and starting to unhook the hood which was, I believe, bungee corded down. The worker jumps up on the car's fender and starts doing his job. The 31 team went nuts, Larry Mc showing his ass the most. The worker is shoved off the car, Larry slaps him and then damn near tries to run him down to get him again. BAD MOVE LARRY! All I can say is he should have taken a lesson from Sterlin Marlin whose car was demolished after a wrecker who was pushing him to his pit failed to stop when Sterlin was signaling him that there was another car in front of him stopped on pit road during the Nashville race. Understandably, Sterlin was POed, who wouldn't be? But he was a gentleman about it and damn sure didn't take any swings at the wrecker driver, although I am sure he felt like it. Yes, tempers flare, but Larry needs to take a look at the replay and see who caused the initial damage and be swinging at him, not the wrecker worker who could be the same guy Skinner needs to pull his car to pit road in the next race. I can understand McReynold's anger, but it should have been directed at the driver, not a track worker. I hope he gets more than the usual slap on the wrist for this one. Terri Labonte made the remark that the accident was the dumbest thing he had seen in a long time, evidently Terri didn't see the 31 crew chief showing his butt or he would have rearranged the dumb and dumbest. I don't know about ya'll, but if I were that worker and Mike Skinner's car was wrecked, I'd think twice about rushing to get him off the track: I, for one, would stand up and cheer to see him try pushing that car onto pit road, begging for help from the track workers. And the workers watching, with grins on their faces, thinking.... "You'll think twice before you take a swing at one of us again MR. McREYNOLDS!" As for that worker, he has an airtight case for assault with more than half a million witnesses, who could ask for more? I bet he'll have no trouble getting passes for the rest of his life. Hey mister, I'll be a witness... for a couple of the passes you'll be offered not to go after McReynolds!! We all have a right to dream don't we?!
