"BEER SALES AT TMS"

Well, race fans, we have decided to turn our Sound Off! page over to you. This will be your forum and we encourage you to submit your opinions to us. Don't be bashful.

We received this letter as a response to one of our recent mail list commentaries.

Don't wind your ass, you'll get a headache! If you have to buy your beer, someone that can tell that you are obviously drunk can cut you off. If you bring a case of beer in your cooler just for yourself, you NEVER admit you've had too much. Then you either start a fight in the stands and give true racing fans a bad reputation, (don't some folks call us Bubba already?) or you think you're the next Richard Petty once you leave the parking lot and kill a family heading home from a great race by driving like a real idiot. If you think the price is too high or the beer too warm, DON'T DRINK IT!!! Maybe your wife and kids would appreciate it as much as those who wouldn't have to put up with some loud-mouth jerk. Racing is a business and if you come to a track that has to pay enormous premiums for insurance because of potential liabilities from drunks, you have to plan on spending your money for almost everything. If you really feel it's your God-given right to make a total ass out of yourself, stay home, watch the race on TV and kill as many brain cells as you can before the checkered flag flies. Just let your wife and kids get somewhere safe before you do. I dare you to print this!

We are far too old to respond to 'dares', but we felt this writer was very sincere. We haven't forgotten when young driver Robbie Moroso, posthumously awarded Rookie of the Year, left Rockingham, drunk, in a rental car, and killed a 27 year old mother of two, and himself, in a needless, alcohol-related automobile accident. Race Views frequently takes a lighter view of racing, but we never take this particular subject lightly. It is not a damn joke and we thank Donn for this contribution.
