I too understand racing is dangerous and the IRL "cars" have no business
running on the fast ovals that were built for Nascar. BUT, I believe the SI
coverage of the tragic deaths at Lowe's was in plain ole out and out bad
taste. The photos alone were enough to make me cancel my husband's
subscription.... not to mention the awful placement of the Valvoline ad.
The blame lies solely with SI, not Valvoline, but at least Valvoline was
classy enough to issue an apology to the spectator's families. SI has yet
to apologized to anyone but Valvoline. Tacky, Tacky Tacky!! I know it is a
power play by the IMS, but hell.. I vote to ban SI's reporter from ALL
track events.. make that unfeeling SOB think about the picture's he puts
with the next article he'll be trying to pass off as news. SI has never
thought racing was sport enough to give it as much coverage as basketball
anyway... until a tragedy occurs such as the 3 spectators being killed at
the IRL race. So let SI cover basketball, baseball and football... we'll
keep on getting our news from Raceviews, PRM2nite, Inside Nascar and a few
other sources that KNOW racing.
