Korean Sesame Shrimp

Okay, I can't let you live your lives any longer without this recipe. We use it with shrimp, but it probably would work fine with beef, pork, poultry, or fish. It only takes 10 minutes to prepare and if I don't make it often enough, my kids want to know what the heck is going on.
They can't remember to do their homework, but they remember to ask for this recipe. Go figure...

Rick

  • 1 1/2 C Soy sauce
  • 1/4 C Packed brown sugar
  • 2 T Dark Asian sesame oil
  • 1 T Maple syrup
  • 1 T Granulated sugar
  • 5 Cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 T Sliced green onion
  • 2 t Grated fresh ginger (OR 1/2 t ground ginger)
  • 1/2 t Cracked black pepper

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until well blended.
  2. Refrigerate 1 pound of shelled shrimp in the marinade for at least one hour.
  3. Grill, turning once and basting the shrimp at the 5-minute point, continuing to grill until the shrimp is tender.
  4. Serve the remaining marinade at the table after boiling the marinade in a saucepan for 1 minute.
