OUA and OQIFC go Head-to-Head in Games That Count

After re-working the CIAU football schedule for 1999, the OUA will eliminate the duplication of opponents while the OQIFC maintains an eight game schedule despite the loss of a team.

Previously, in order to eliminate the single preseason game, the OUA scheduled each team to play one other team twice each season while palying all others only once. While dropping the "for practice" game was far better for fans and players alike, it was a mixed blessing for teams slated to play perennial powerhouses such as Western.

The OQIFC also benefits. After losing the Carleton program, the conference was back to only six teams. The new arrangement allows an eight game schedule with fewer duplicate opponents.

The games will be played mid-season over two weekends. The inter-conference game schedule is as follows. Note that the two Ontario based OQIFC teams play two games with OUA opponents.

Sat. October 16
Guelph @ Queens
Windsor @ McGill
Bishop's @ Western
Ottawa @ York
Laval @ McMaster
Waterloo @ Concordia

Sat. October 23
Laurier @ Ottawa
Queens @ Toronto
