My dad retired in his early fifty's and took the time to do some of the things
he loved. He loved to fly fish and learned to tie his own flies, he loved
nature. Dad travelled across Canada many times in his 5 th. wheel trailer, mom
was his map reader and I think he cursed at her many times for making the wrong
turn.
My father was always an artist and did sketches that he kept hidden from
the family but we always knew he had a talent. In 1998 I encouraged dad to try
painting. He was encouraged more so that my mom was painting and her work was
being appreciated. Mom's work for the most part is shown at Down East Gallery
in Toronto. So dad started painting and he did about 12 nice little paintings
before he had a stroke in the spring of 1999. I lost my dad in May of 2000 and
miss him terribly. I'd like to share some of his paintings with you and I hope
you like them. The Saw Mill In Winter was one of his last and was a Christmas
gift to me.
