Postwar Prosecution:
Surrendered to U.S. forces in Pilsen, 00.05.1945. Turned over to Czech authorities, he was tried by a Czech court and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1948. Signed agreement to cooperate with the StB (Czech secret police), 1955, as this organization wanted him to serve as an intelligence gatherer in West Germany. Central Committee of the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia refused to allow his release until 1961. In the meantime, Toussaint reportedly provided information to his captors concerning West German military and political leaders whom he'd known during the war, in exchange for which he received food and cigarettes. It is unknown if he provided further information upon his release to West Germany. He was stricken from the Czech secret police list of informers in 1964.
