This was confirmed on 09 Dec 1944 by Order of the Reichs-Marshal. The period of pre-trail confinement was credited and the execution of the remaining penalty was suspended. The loss of his rank was revised. This treatment of mercy was certainly due to the fact that it was Major-General Maier who carried Göring out of the firing line at the Beer Hall in Munich. He was Discharged from the Luftwaffe (09 Feb 1945)
