SCOUT CAR MODEL KITS TO BUILD

Revell ProFinish Boy Scout Show Car. This 1999 version, 1:24 scale model kit is produced the the renowned model maker, Revell Monogram, Inc. Assembled, it measures approximately 8 inches. It requires no gluing or painting. It features a detailed SnapTite® chassis and interior with NASCAR® rollcage, masked and painted body with clear topcoat and pre-applied graphics, and Peel n Stick sponsor decal sheet. These are hard to find in stores. MSRP $16.75

Pinewood Derby Scout Car Kit - 1999. These kits are manufactured by the BSA's Pinewood Derby Kit manufacturer, HomeCrafters, Inc. They allow a Cub to customize his Pinweood Derby car to look just like the BSA NASCAR. The kit includes a regulation block of wood, axles, and wheels as well as a molded plastic Taurus body and decals. These kits are hard to find. I'd start by looking on eBay.

HOT WHEELS DIE CAST SCOUT CARS

Mattel has been manufacturing "Hot Wheels" versions of the BSA NASCAR for two years. The 1998 version is a yellow Ford Taurus and the 1999 version is a white/blue Taurus. Both are emblazoned with the BSA Character Counts livery. Some of the models are common, some very (very) rare!

1998 VERSIONS

Pro Racing 1st Edition - 1/64 Scale. These cars were the first produced in the given model year, and may not accurately reflect changes made at the beginning of the NASCAR season. This particular model contains an error which makes the model very valuable. On the rear bumper, in the text for "BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA" the word AMERICA is missing the "I" and is thus spelled "AMER CA" (See pic!) This model is rare.

Pro Racing - 1/64 Scale. This is an economy version and is characterized by the red card shaped like a #1. Very common.

Pro Racing - 1/24 Scale. Larger 1/24 version is boxed with a celophane window and "Race stands" background. It is hard to find.

Pro Racing Track Edition - 1/64 Scale. These 1/64 boxed cars were normally only available at trackside concession stands, however some made their way to special Scouting events and national conferences. They are removable from the box, however you need to break a seal to do so, which tends to ruin the collectible value. Very hard to find.

1999 VERSIONS

Racing - 1/24 Scale. In 1999 the term "PRO RACING" was modified to just "RACING." This model is the large "Racing" 1/24 version

Racing - 1/24 & 1/64 Scale. Larger 1/24 and 1/64 versions are boxed together with a celophane window and "Race stands" background. A great combo!

Racing Track Edition - 1/64 Scale. The much sought after 'boxed' version of the 1999 Taurus.
