WHAT IS IT? |
The Scout Show Car is a nonracing prototype of a NASCAR race car sponsored by the Washington Erving MotorSports Team.
The Washington Erving MotorSports Team partnered with Ford Motor Company to introduce the first wholly minority-owned, full-time racing team in the past 25 years of NASCAR Winston Cup racing. This historic team features two former Scouts who are well-known as NBA and NFL greats, Julius "Dr. J." Erving and Joe Washington, along with North Carolina entrepreneur Fields Jackson Jr. and Pennsylvania businessman Asa Murray. The team will work with BSA's local councils to promote the values of the Scouting program.
Presently, two Scout Show Cars are appearing at Scouting events around the country.

PURPOSE |
In order to spread the word about Scouting to more communities, the Washington Erving MotorSports Team displays the Scout Show Car at major local council events as well as at NASCAR races; at NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB games; and at selected automobile showrooms.
This program supports the focus of BSA's Scoutreach Division in reaching a wide spectrum of urban communities. In addition, BSA and the Washington Erving MotorSports Team will introduce more young people to the world of automotive engineering, electronics, and many other automotive trades that offer valuable career opportunities.
The Washington Erving MotorSports Team provides celebrity appearances and holds autograph sessions at selected events to help local councils with recruitment efforts.
