Hey Cubs! Let's Go To Cub Resident Camp

Over 600 Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, and adults attended the 1996 Cub Resident Camp. To meet the demand of more Cub Scouts wanting an outdoor long-term camping experience, this year we are offering 9 camping sessions. Each one is 3 days and two nights, open to Wolf and Bear Cubs and First & Second year Webelos Scouts. Instead of 600 campers we can accomodate over l,000 boys wanting the long term camping experiece as a Cub Scout.

Camp Lindblad is located in the towering Redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains near Boulder Creek on Highway 9. Camp offers acres of majestic redwood trees, fern grottos, streams, warm days and cool nights. Camp Lindblad has been the Council's Training center in past years and will have many improvements this Spring getting ready for Cub Resident Camp.

Better programs will include 2 BB gun ranges, archery ranges, handicraft, whittling area, nature and star hikes, fishing & wading, camping, hiking, Scout Skills area, games, and fantastic campfires. Lindblad will offer "Sports Belt Loops" activity areas such as BB gun, archery, and physical fitness. Webelos call work on craftsman, outdoorsman, naturalist, handyman, athlete, sportsman, geologist, artist, and readyman activity badges. A special whittling area has beell created just for the Cub and Webelos age boys.

Arrow of Light Scouts can work on requirements for their Arrow of Light award, the highest award in the Cub Scouts program.

Shooting Sports Program offered

Cub and Webelos Scouts can take part in our Cub Scout Shooting Sports Program. Under the direction of our Field Sports Director, and if they qualify, each camper will receive the Shooting Sportss certificate. The sports belt loops can be purchased at our Council Trading Post.

Character Development - Important

Character development is taught at camp, not through lecture, but by example. The individual boy is important. There are no problem Scouts at camp, but there are Scouts with problems, and the entire camp staff stands trained and ready to help boys with their problems.

7 Steps to Register You for Cub Resident Camp NOW!

Ask your Cubmaster to:

1. Choose a Cub Resident Camp Chair to handle all of the paper work, promotion, money, and meetings.

2. Select the camp session you and your buddies in your pack want to attend camp. All registered Cub and Webelos Scouts can attend any session the pack selects. The pack selects who will be camping together in one camp site. Each camper brings his own tent or shares one with a buddy.

3. Each pack sends in a deposit of $10 to hold a camp site. Camp Lindblad has 14 camp sites. Each camp site holds 8 campers. (The camp will provide one Den Chief from our staff) When the pack fills up the camp site with paid reservations, the pack reserves another camp site. Fill that one up and so on. One adult from the pack is required to attend camp with each den of 8 campers. Upon receiving the Camp Reservation form, the council will mail a Cub Resident Camp Guide Book, 10 youth medical forms, maps and other information needed to attend camp. One packet will be sent for each camp site you reserve.

4. Each pack collects the camp fees and deposits them in their pack account. The camp fee for each Cub Scout or Webelos Scout is just $90. (If paid by March 25 the fee is just $80 and inlcludes a T-Shirt) The camp fee for each adult is just $60. (If paid by March 25 the fee is just $50 and includes a T-Shirt.)

5. Upon receiving campers' fees at the Pleasant Hill Service Center on or before March 25, each camper and adult will receive a Free Camp T-shirt. After March 25, the Camp T-Shirt can be purchased for $8 at the Service Center or at the camp trading post. The Camp T-Shirts will be available to the pack for distribution at the May and June Roundtables. Cubs and adults can wear them to den meetings, pack meetings and school to help promote summer camp.

6. When the pack turns in the camper fees, it will also turn in a Cub Resident Camp Roster form which will have the names and ranks of boys and names of adults attending Camp.

7 Pack Up your pack and get ready for FUN, ADVENTURE, and EXCITEMENT! Come to Cub Resident Camp the day your session begins. Arrive in time for a great lunch. After you check-in, and have a medical check, the activities begin. Take a tour of camp, and set up tents. Each summer session will be held at Camp Lindblad located on Highway 9 just 10 miles north of Santa Cruz at Boulder Creek. Maps will be sent.
