Notes for Marmaduke KIMBROUGH
Marmaduke was married first to a woman names Anne and together they had a
son named John Kimbrough.
May have been the son of Colonist John Kimbrough and third wife, Margaret.
FROM KIMBROUGH GENEALOGICAL QUARTERLY-VOL 1, NUMBER 2 (April 1964)
Records are found of a Margaret Kimbrough and a Benjamin Kimbrough,
believed to be children of Colonist John Kimbrough and his wife
Margaret. The Marmaduke Kimbrough of Virginia and North Carolina in the
1730's to 1760's mentions his youngest sister Margaret, and places
Marmaduke as a son of Margaret. Records imply Nathaniel Kimbrough was a
brother of the above Marmaduke.
Some believe him to be the son of John Kimbrough, Jr. and Elizabeth? due
to the age the Colonist John Kimbrough would have been at Marmaduke's
birth. However, if Margaret, his third wife, was presumably much
younger,it is certainly a strong possiblity that Marmaduke was a child of
this marriage. Also, Buckley Kimbrough is known to be a child of the
marriage of John Kimbrough and Margaret Natin or Buckley and Buckley and
Marmaduke are closely allied, lending credance to the theory that they
are brothers.
