Notes for Millie PATILLO
Millie Patillo
Millie Patillo, born between 1770 and 1780, was born in
Scotland. She was
the second wife of Ormond Kimbrough, and a step-mother to his children.
They
were married about 1800, in Rowan County, North Carolina. Family
tradition
says that the children were very fond of their step-mother, and this is
verified by the fact that her step-daughter, Mary (our ancestor), named
her
oldest daughter Mary Patillo Howard. In 1830, Millie was living in Macon
County, North Carolina in the household of her son, George Henry and his
wife. In M. D. Kimbrough's letter he says, "Duke went to Alabama about
1820
and was back about 1830 and carried back with him his brother George and
mother, aunt Millie as she was called. I think her maiden name was
Patillo..." It is not known when Millie died.
