PREFACE

Some data, legends and the repeated use of certain given names and the history of the times supports the strong possibility that Thomas WING/WINGO is the forefather of our WINGO line. >It is fully realized that this procedure is subject to question, but any researcher who has worked in the area of the destroyed records of Virginia is fully aware that full documentary data on a family of this area is rare. In addition, this is an exploratory effort to encourage others to join in this effort and come forth with better data than is presently available.

Notes

Thomas appears to have been married twice. The first wife's name was BUTLER. John BUTLER was her brother. When John died in 1759, he named three nephews in his will--Price BUTLER, Penel Josiah DRINKWATER and John WINGO. John WINGO appears to be the son born to the first wife of Thomas.

15 Sep 1791, Wm Rucker executed a deed of gift to the heirs of his deceased daughter, Sarah Rucker Wingo. The disputed slaces were Milly and her children Sam, Ben, Nan, Charles, Becky, Lewis, Rueben, Edy and Moses. They were still in the possession of John Wingo, Sarah's husband.
