OUR BEST FRIENDS AT THE SEA

The small ocean town Was home for a spell, With it's phony facades, And false smiling faces. Our best friends we found, Introduced by the sea. The wind brought us whispers, The clouds brought the faces, The waves brought the chatter, The sand offered gifts. The birds brought their music, The seagulls stood watch, Dune grass gave bedding, The jetty shared powers. The stones from the beach, Filled our pockets with gold. And though we are leaving Our town by the sea, Our best friends remain, They set our souls free. Pamela Pauley-Perreault ©1996
