Great news! Your learning about World Sustainability has paid off with an opportunity for a very cool internship at a civil society organization that advocates for world sustainability. You have made the short list. The prospective supervisor wants to make sure that you know enough about the global crisis. She has asked you to compose a brief essay with these guidelines:

Provide her with an overview of the scope and dimensions of the global crisis. The essay should be timely, showing a grasp of the current situation.
The topic could so broad that she will allow you to emphasize a particular aspect, your choice: ecological, economic, and social. Your call.
Include at least 10 concepts you discovered in the readings. Underline them so that we can find them easily.
She encourages you to collaborate with peers. (So use the wiki team discussions to help each other out -- collaboration and working in teams is essential to the internship.)
She encourages you to do your own research on the Internet. After all, research skills about world sustainability are valuable. So, reach beyond the required readings and show off your skills. Google away!
The essay should be about six double-spaced pages, presented in MS Word .doc (not .docx), using 12-point font.

The supervisor is reading Lester Brown, Plan B 3.0, and wants you to use it, too. However, the supervisor does not know how to interpet Brown in terms of an overarching paradigm, so she wants you to conclude your essay with an interpretation that is consistent with a paradigm of your choosing.

The essay is worth 20 points toward your grade and will be graded on the grading criteria displayed in the syllabus. Your essay should refer liberally to the readings from Learning Module #2, referenced by the MLA standards. The essay is due on October 23.
