Rangimarie
MCH.   Where did we come from?

The school is owned and run by Nicky Chisnall and Dave Stott. Both have had a lengthy involvement in Montessori education in New Zealand. Their children attended Northland Montessori pre-school (now at Wilton) and Wa Ora Montessori School. Nicky and Dave were founding parents of the Wa Ora school - Nicky was also first teacher there and Dave was the Council President. Dave also spent two and a half years as President of the National Montessori organisation (MANZ) and is currently on the MANZ executive. Nicky has had several years on the MANZ executive and currently serves on the Practicum Council of MANZ.
After seven years involvement at Wa Ora Nicky and Dave felt it was time for new challenges. Rangimarie Montessori Children’s House was opened in leased premises at Ngaio School in 1995. In order to accommodate the needs of older children requiring extension till age 6, as well as a high demand for places, new premises were sought. A large house was purchased in Elliott St, Johnsonville and, following alterations rendering it suitable for an early childhood facility, was opened in February, 1997. We currently have two classrooms catering for children aged 2.5 - 6 years and are able to offer extended day classes for 4.5 - 6 year olds.
