MARIA FERNANDES NOVAES

EFFLUVIUMS OF ONE NIGHT MAIA

It was you..
You came from a distance full of longings
And you had found me sad and silent,
Waiting for you...

You had come calm and drew
And I had found living the sweet enchantment
Of the dream of reviewing you
And to be with you, without never let you go
You had arrived, finally, you had arrived
And you illuminated my life.

You brought light to my life
And peace to my passionate soul.
You had come from a distance, without knowing why
And you had found me...

You had a surprise, on that day,
When I aimed at you into your eyes
And I understood that loved you.

And you found absurd my sudden love,
But, also, I had felt it...
And you were afraid and, a road, a highway

And you preferred to the stranger feeling
That made you higher in the quiet nights
Of soft and pleasant moonlight.

Ah! You remember well, of that beautiful night,
Full of stars, of the Lunar Goddess...
The Goddess that knew the secrets
That our hearts insisted in hiding,
But that our eyes,
Melting some in the other ones,
They insisted on announcing.

You were beautiful,
You had the beauty of the mystery that hid you.
Your eyes, occult for the complicity of the twilight,
They possessed the brilliant darkness of the obsidian
That, on day, we knew so well.
And my eyes, dipped into yours,
They had the shine of the jade
Exposed to the celestial light of the Mayan nights.

We were, again, both of us.
Me and you, again together,
Living the aroma of the past,
Under the forces of the present.
You loved me and I had felt it
In rubbing of your eyes us mine,
As if the night and the dawn
If they melted, suddenly,
In a combination of colors and lights of several shades,
Where prevailed the splendor of the blackness
And the green of the chalchivitl.

You kept in the chest the anguish of the freedom
And you had printed paper in the face the mark of the longing.
But you had fled and you didn't understand
The reason of the mysterious force that united us.

You were afraid...
And you didn't give up your road...
And had lost me...
However, I had followed your steps.
As breeze waking up the flowers in the dawn,
I looked for you as a nomad,
To wake up of the hypnotic sleep
That fell asleep you the mind.

The day had arrived and you remembered then,
You had felt me, again, present
And you took refuge, again,
In the restlessness of your own fear of feeling.
But as all the closed shells,
Protecting the dear pearl,
In the fight for the defense,
You suffered the pain of the would,
That the loved pearl, pressed, and it had caused.
And you were forced to expel it..
