elcome to the Butler Family Club's History section devoted to marriage records of our Butler family. We NEED YOUR HELP in this project. If you have info that has been confirmed with public documents, please send this to us to preserve in the Family Library as well as for posting here. Please do not send "hearsay" info -- or info that has not been confirmed. This site is sponsored by the Butler Family Club, a national, non-profit family club for all descendants of Butler families.
The most important goal of the Butler Family Club is to gather and preserve our family heritage. A major part of our history are the marriage records of our ancestors. These tell us who, when and where they married and often much more. You can help in this effort to preserve our family history: if you have marriage information from courthouses, family Bibles or other sources, please send these to us to preserve in the Family Library and to post in our History section.
The records posted here have been gathered from a wide variety of sources over the years, including from original county courthouse records, published sources (books & magazines) and from records sent in by relatives. In many cases -- especially those from the early 1800's and before that -- the dates shown are the date the marriage bond was issued and not the actual date of marriage. This is especially true of older records. These are most likely a marriage "bond", a legal promise to marry the girl and if the marriage did not take place, the man and his bondsman forfeited the bond money.
Your help is needed to gather and preserve marriage records on our family. Visit your local courthouse and copy down the marriage records there of your close Butler kin (and descendants) and send this to us.
