I am looking for information on a MARTHA CONYERS (born circa 1820). All I have to go is a vague memory of my grandfather GEORGE ROBERT BEERS Sr. (1879-1950) saying that his grandmother was a Conyers of the Georgia Conyers that came to Ga. via Va. and South Carolina. I was only six when Grandfather died so my memory is foggy at best. my great-great grandmother Martha's husband was George Beers and they lived in Lowndes Co., AL. She had 3 ch: ELIZABETH (ca 1840) (mar ??? TREADWELL), GEORGE WASHINGTON (1843-1914), and BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BEERS (1846-1901). G. W. Beers served in the 3rd Alabama Regiment, Confederate States Army during the War for Southern Independence and was one of the 40 members left at Appomattox from the original 1,621 members. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Montgomery, but his parents are not there. Benjamin Franklin Beers is buried in Benton, Lowndes Co. and his parents are not there. I plan to go to Alabama and look for records later this year and I'll be happy to do lookups for anyone there or in Baton Rouge, LA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at nancynbj@aol.com Nancy Beers Johnson. The website is beautiful; my congratulations to the designer and builder.
