Conyers in the Revolutionary War

BENJAMIN CONYERS
He is listed on the 1840 US Census of Shelby County, Ky. as a Revolutionary War veteran. He was 91 at the time.

CHARLES CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. Enlisted as private. Born 1757; died 15 Mar., 1843.

CLEMENT
South Carolina Militia. Served as Captain of a company in the 5th South Carolina Regiment of Militia. His company later served in the Continental Army as a Captain in Marion's Brigade.

DANIEL CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. Served as a Lieutenant and later Captain of a company. Born ca 1748; died 1809.

EPHRIAM CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. Listed on the 1840 US Census of Franklin Co., NC as a Revolutionary War veteran; age 85. Father Richard was a Captain of NC Militia. Born in Halifax Co., NC. In 1779, he enlisted in the South Carolina Militia in York District, SC under Colonel Neel. His company marched to Augusta, Ga. He later served against Indians in Georgia fighting for the British. He re-enlisted in 1779. In 1780, he was drafted to serve under Col. Bratton and in 1781, he joined General Greene's army under Major Parson and Col. Davis. He served as a sergeant in 1782. He later moved back to NC.

JAMES CONYERS Senior
South Carolina Militia. Served in the Militia. Was in the Battle and siege of Charleston and taken captive there. Born 24 May, 1718; died after 1784.

JAMES CONYERS Junior
South Carolina Militia. Served as a Major in the South Carolina Militia.; born ca 1748; died Sept., 1781.

JOHN Junior
Georgia Militia. Served as Captain of a Company of Georgia Militia. Lived in Screven County; usually referred to as John Senior, because he also had a son named John. Drew veteran's pension; died 1835.

JOHN CONYERS
North Carolina Militia. Born Apr., 1750; died ca 1812.

LEWIS CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. Enlisted in the Fourth Regiment of South Carolina Militia on 8 Dec., 1778.

NORWOOD CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. He was in the Battle and siege of Charleston and captured by the British. He was on parole as a prisoner of war there when the British took him prisoner again and held him and other Americans aboard a British prisoner of war ship. In 1781, a British colonel ordered him "banished" because he refused to take an oath of allegiance to the English king.

RICHARD
North Carolina Militia. Served as a Captain in the North Carolina Militia. Lived in Bute and later Franklin County, NC. Born in 1736 in Beaufort, SC; died 1792.

STRAUGHN CONYERS
South Carolina Militia. Served as a private in the Militia under Capt. J. Neilson, Colonels Richardson and Jones and Gen. Marion. He was in the battle at Black River. In 1779, he served under Capt. B. Screven and others. He later served in a cavalry company under Capt. W. McCantrey and others. Later, he was a horseman and bodyguard for General Lincoln. After this, he served at Cat Island Fort. He was in the Battle and seige of Charleston. In 1780 and 1781, he served in the cavalry. Lived in Sumter District. Later drew a veteran's pension in 1831.

THOMAS CONYERS

Pennsylvania Militia. Private, Pennsylvania Line, Applied for veteran's pension while living in Wilson County, Tennessee. $80.00 Annual Allowance $240.00 Amount Received August 2 1833 Pension Started Age 77 (1835 TN Pension Roll)
