This part of our History section is devoted to all the Crowson (Crawson, Crosson, etc.) men and boys who fought in defense of their homes and nation as soldiers in the military forces of the Confederates States of America during the War for Southern Independence (War Between the States), 1861-1865.
We will try to list every known relative who served in the military service, either of the Confederate States Army and Navy or any of the State Militias. If you have information or copies of records on a Crowson ancestor who served in the Confederate military forces, please send copies of these to us to preserve in our Family Library.
Most of the military units of the Confederate States and the state militias were organized in regiments or battalions. Artillery was organized into batteries. All of the units below are infantry organizations unless otherwise designated, such as Cav. for cavalry.
