HOWARD B. FAIRCLOTH
Basketball Coach

PARKTON, NC. --Howard Bascom Faircloth died 31 Aug. at age 60.

Howard was born 23 Apr 1940 in Sampson Co., NC, son of James Ransom Faircloth and Gladys Lucy Usher.

He was an assistant coach at Riverside Christian Academy here. He was married to Joyce Marie Autry.

Funeral was held at Evangelical Methodist Church. Burial was at Raeford Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Dana Marie; sisters Mary Kate Faircloth Rutherford, Conway, SC and Dorothy Ann Faircloth Perry, Pendleton, SC; brothers Junious Ivey, Harry Thomas and James Nathan Faircloth, all of Roseboro, NC.

Howard was a grandson of Junius Marvin Faircloth and Virginia Idason Faircloth; a great grandson of James M. Faircloth and Elizabeth Ann Averitt and Nathan Faircloth and Emily C.Strickland.

HERMAN R. FAIRCLOTH
Retired Army Veteran

SUPPLY, NC--Herman Renus Faircloth, a retired US Army veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, died 3 Aug 1999, aged 79.

Herman was born 4 Feb 1927 in Fayetteville, NC, the son of Lawrence C. Faircloth and Lula Jane Faircloth. He entered the US Army just after World War II and served during the Korean War and later in the Vietnam War, remaining in the Army until his retirement. His postings included West Germany, where he met and married his wife, Erika Else Kreisler in 1950. They had three children.

After his retirement, he and his wife settled in Brunswick County.

Burial was in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery at Shallotte.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Lillian Elizabeth and two brothers, Royal Lee ("Roy") and Carl Houston.

Surviving are his wife, Erika; daughter Joyce Christine ("Chrystal") Faircloth Judah, Fayetteville; sisters Helen Louise Faircloth Saunders and Judy A. Faircloth; sons James Arthur Lawrence Faircloth and Phillip Herman Faircloth; several grandchildren.

Herman's paternal grandparents were Benjamin Franklin ("Ben") Faircloth and Adeline Catherine Autry; his maternal grandparents were Hanson Asbury Faircloth and Elizabeth Lucas; he was a great grandson of Theophilus Faircloth and Rebecca Cashwell.

SANDRA FAYE HARDISON, Wife of Claybourn F. Faircloth

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC--Sandra Faye Hardison Faircloth, 59, died 8 May at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville. She was the wife of Claybourn Franklin Faircloth.

Sandra married Claybourn 8 June 1957. They were both natives of Bladen County, NC but lived for most of their adult lives.

Burial was in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Durham.

Surviving are her husband; daughters Jackie Faircloth Szymanski, New Hill, NC, Linda Faircloth Clayton, Cedar Grove, NC, Wanda Faircloth Wilkerson, Roxboro, NC and Elizabeth Faircloth Person, Hope Mills, NC; son Roy L. Faircloth, Durham; 9 grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Mrs. BUCK G. FAIRCLOTH

AUTRYVILLE, NC--Malissa Cleveland Hall Faircloth died at the Mary Gran Nursing Home 4 Mar 1999 at age 85.

Malissa was the widow of Buck Gilliam Faircloth. They were married 3 Sep 1938 and were the parents of two sons, James Hinton and Ronald Michael ("Ron") Faircloth. James predeceased his mother.

Malissa was born 25 Aug 1913 in Sampson County, the daughter of Amos Nunnery Hall and Sabrina Lee Hall.

Burial was in the Joel Hall Cemetery.

Surviving are her son Ron and daughter-in-law, Barbara Alford Faircloth, Zebulon, NC; sister, Lillie Ella Horne, Autryville; brother, Otis B. Hall, Autryville; a grandson, Matthew Faircloth, Zebulon.

J. E. ("Bud") FAIRCLOTH

LIVE OAK, NC--James Edward ("Bud") Faircloth died 9 Apr 1999 at age 83.

Bud was born 25 Sep 1916 in Cumberland County, NC, a son of Oscar James Faircloth and Carrie Lee Rice.

He was married to Dorothy Elizabeth Simmons.

Funeral was held at the Live Oak Methodist Church. Burial was in the Live Oak Cemetery.

He was predeceased by a daugthter, Doris Lee Faircloth and a son, James Edward Faircloth Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Joyce Faircloth Carter.

Bud was a grandson of James Junius Faircloth and Annie Marinda Culbreth.

RONNIE STEVE NORTON

WILMINGTON, NC--Ronnie Steve Norton of Wilmington died here 7 Mar., aged 47. He was the husband of Pearl Faircloth.

Ronnie was born 15 Sep 1952 in Sanford, NC, son of Lathan Norton and Essie Collins. He was a 1970 graduate of Boone Trail High School and the University of Arizona. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was employed as a mechanical engineer with KOSA in Wilmington.

Survivors include his parents; his wife Pearl Faircloth Norton of the home; a daughter, Joanna Norton; and son Ronnie Steve Norton Jr., both of Wilmington; 3 sisters Terry Goins, Pam Harrington and Patricia Buchanan.

Burial was at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Broadway, NC.
