Johnson Family History and Records

Welcome to the Family History portion of the Johnson Family Club's website. This part of our site is devoted to family history of the many different Johnson - Johnston families in America. In the South, they are mostly families whose ancestors settled in the English Colonies before America gained independence. Please be patient as we add information in the coming weeks and months. We have a lot of information to add so bear with us and visit often for updates.

The main purpose of the Family club is to gather records of every kind and information on family history of all the Johnson families and preserve this in our Johnson Family National Library. You are urged to help in this project. If you would like to add information of your own to the website about your branch of the family, you are invited to send information: please try to keep your info brief and limited to about one typed page--we have a lot of families to tell about. If you have a Johnson family history site on the Internet, please let us know so we can add a link to it.

Most of the Johnson families who settled in the Southern colonies came from the British Isles, including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland. They were among the earliest settlers in America, the first arriving in Virginia in the early 1600's.

NOTE:

if you came directly to this site, be sure and visit the Family Club's HOME page where you can jump to our other sections, including the Family NEWSLETTER (with news about your kinfolk), the family QUERIES section, the "FAMOUS JOHNSONS" section and our other pages. Family History

This section will soon have a narrative history of our Johnson families, covering different periods of American history. Be patient as we work on it.

Please send copies of your old family photos to preserve in the Family Library. We hope to add a new page of old family photos to the History section of our website.

[NOTE: the coat of arms shown above is one of many which have been granted to Johnsons in Britain over the centuries. Others are shown below, from Britain (left) and Ireland (center). If you have other Johnson arms or crests, please send a copy to preserve in the Family Library.]
