My name is TIMOTHY ODOM. I am 17 and I live in New Zealand. I don't know a lot about our family history but am quite interested in learning more. What I do know is this. My Grandfather LEROY ODOM Jr. was born in a small town called Chipley, Florida [Editor's note: that's in Holmes County, just south of Dothan, Ala.] in 1924. He moved to New Zealand during WWII with the US Navy as part of the force protecting NZ from the Japanese. We are the only Odoms here in New Zealand, (that is aunties, uncles and first cousins). If this info helps you in any way then I would like to help. We do have other info to give you. Mostly I would like to find out about my own genealogy and help others find out about theirs. God Bless and Good Luck.

I need to know more about this listing you have in the "Marriages Section" [under the HISTORY Section]. Can you give me the names of their children? My husband is ROBERT BRITTAIN ODOM, his father was WALTER BRITTAIN ODOM, son of JAMES BRITTAIN ODOM. I saw a WILLIAM B. ODOM in your list, it would be helpful to know what those middle initials stand for. I am just starting to research his family. [Editor's note: marriage records are and should be listed "as is" --or how they appear in the official records; in this case, I don't know what the middle name is]

I would love to make contact with other "English" Odom's as there are not very many of us. I have a family tree that was done for my Grandmother, going back to JOHN ODOM, (baptised 1720 -- d 16 Apr 1773, bur at Bury, near Ramsey, Hungtingdonshire) He was a drover; mar ANN KATLING on 14 Jun 1745 at Thorney Abbey, Cambridgeshire. They had at least 2 sons JOHN (14 Feb 1762) and JAMES (abt 1766, mar MARY ANN SMITH). I have lots more info about their families but have not been able to trace any before 1720. Do you know of anyone else looking?

I'm attaching a picture of ROSIE ODOM and her husband NEWT SIZEMORE. I found this picture among my grandmother's belongings. Her name was LULA IVY EDITH SMITH and was a cousin of either Rosie or Newt. I have very little info to go on here but I believe Newt and Rosie lived in northwest Arkansas or Oklahoma in the early 1900's. According to another post I read, Rosie Odom moved to California and died in either Oildale, CA or Bakersfield CA in 1966. The post I read was by a lady named Betty Brookover whose email address is no longer valid. I cannot find her but she said that Rosie was her grandmother. Perhaps someone will recognize Rosie or Newt and can make a connection. Thank you very much!
