I am searching for any information on my gg grandfather RICHARD RILEY (Feb 1783 in Washington Co., NY -- 11 Nov 1886). Richard mar MARY NICHOLS (12 Dec 1803 -- 6 Jan 1886), I don't know where she was born. They owned land in Hartford Township, Washington Co., NY from 1829 to 1850. They moved in 1850 to Springdale Twp., Wisconsin with their three children. While in NY, he was a neighbor of CORNELIUS RILEY (1794--1865) and his wife BETSEY RASEY (25 Oct 1800 -- 11 Mar 1883). Richard sold his farm to SYLVESTER RILEY (b 1824) and JOHN RILEY (b 1827), who were sons of Cornelius who also had three other children: HARRIETT (1829), ELIZA (1833) and HANNAH (1834). I am wondering if Cornelius Riley was a brother of Richard? Also if any can trace Cornelius to his parents? If they were brothers, this would help my research.

I am looking for info on GEORGE W. RILEY, of Northern VA who married HANNAH A. COOPER 6 Jan 1859 in Loudoun Co. VA. They had at least one ch: MARGARET GERTRUDE RILEY who mar THOMAS WILLIAM WEBB 3 Nov 1872 in Loudoun Co. Margaret had several siblings, five or more. I am looking for any info on George's parents, siblings and any of his children.

I am an English Riley. My g grandfather JOSEPH RILEY (b ca 1850 in Ireland), came from Ireland to England during the great famine that began about 1848. He mar CATHERINE GILLON SHERLOCK in 1885. She was a widow and died in 1901 age 47. Their ch included: SAMUEL RILEY (my grandfather, born 1887); and SARAH RILEY (1897). My grandfather was born in Jarrow in northeast England and the rest of the family were born in and around that area. After both parents died, their children were put into workhouses. The workhouse they were sent to was probably in Tynemouth or South Shields. My grandfather searched for years for his siblings; there must have been at least five children born in the period between 1887 and 1897. I have not found out the date of Joseph's death. I hope some other Riley family members would recognise the little I have.
