This part of our History section is devoted to all the Southern Ward men and boys who fought in defense of their Nation as soldiers and sailors in the Confederate States Army and Navy during the War for Southern Independence (War Between the States). If you have information or records on your ancestor's military service, please let us know so we can add this to our Family Library.
We hope to list all those who served in the South's military forces at this site. However, due to the large number of relatives who served and our limited space, we cannot list all of them at the same time. We will try to change the list about once a month and rotate it.
Most of the Southern military forces were organized into regiments and battalions. All of the units below are infantry unless otherwise designated, such as Cav. for cavalry or Arty. for artillery.
