THE NORWOOD DNA PROJECT

Our Norwood Y-DNA Project is relatively new and has a small but growing group of participants from the lines of Theophilus Norwood, John Norwood of Maryland, Francis Norwood of Massachusetts, and Richard Norwood of Bermuda.  What use is it?  This project has the potential to identify different lines of Norwoods and show how closely or distantly they may be related.  As the database grows, participants’ results will begin to fall into groups.  Eventually, a participant who has no conventional information about his ancestry will be able to determine which line of Norwoods to study by comparing his Y-DNA to that of others in the project.  Some brick walls may be broken down too as the project grows.  Do visit the discussion page to see how initial results show that so far, none of the Norwood lines are related within a genealogical timeframe.

Please visit the links below for all of the information available to date and to find out how to participate.

The Patriarchs Page will show you the direct male lineage of all participants.

The Results Page will take you to a table of the specific DNA markers tested for each participant.

The Discussion Page contains my observations regarding the meaning of the data (and is open to participation by everyone.)
