THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF EDWARD NORWOOD


        In the name of God ??? I Edward Norwood of Baltimore County and province of Maryland being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory praised be the Almighty God my saviour into whose Hands I commit my soul hoping for salvation through his ??? I do make ordain and approve this my last will and testament (working and servurrceiing??) all other will or wills heretofore made by me who ???.

IMPRIMIS: I give and bequeath to my dearly and well beloved wife Mary Norwood all that part of a tract or parcel of land called United Friendship lying between dry river and (Per?? river) and northward as far as the Lines of the land called the Forrest for and during her natural life and no longer.

IMPR: I give and bequeath to my son Nicholas Norwood one shilling sterling no more his having received his full share of my estate allready.

IMPR: I give and bequeath to my son Edward Norwood and my son Samuel Norwood all the tract of Land whereon I now dwell called United Friendship to be equally divided between them their heirs or assigns forever but in case either of my said sons should die before they come of age then it is my will that the survivour shall have and possess the whole tract but not to disturb my wife during her life and if it should so happen that both my sons Edward and Samuel should die before they come of age then it is my will that it shall be equally divided between my three daughters and the youngest son, viz: Ruth Norwood, Elizabeth Norwood, Mary Norwood and John Norwood to them their Heirs and assigns forever.

IMPR: I give and bequeath to my son John Norwood all that tract or parcel of land called Buckrange Lying in Baltimore County containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less to him his heirs and assigns forever, and it is my will that all the rest of my Lands not heretofore mentioned shall be sold at publick sale for the benefit of my estate by my Executor hereafter to be appointed and after all my Just debts are paid this (overplus??) together with all my servants Negroes stock and Estate of all Kinds whatsoever to be equally divided between my six youngest children, viz: Edward, Samuel, Ruth, Elizabeth, Mary, and John after my wife has drawn her third parts and in case either of my said children should die before they come of age that then his or her (share??) parts shall be equally divided amongst the survivours and it is further my will that my daughters shall possess their parts of my estate when they come of age or on the day of marriage and I do constitute and appoint my son Edward Norwood to be my whole and sole Executor to see this my last will and testament duly and ttruly executed and performed and in case of his death he may appoint any other person whom he choses.

In Witness whereof I have unto affixed my hand and seal this Twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord Seventeen Hundred and Seventy.
