Joshua III Norwood and wife Ruth Andrews Norwood wrote the following letter in 1808 to their son William and his wife Deborah Winslow. This letter has been kindly provided by Guy Norwood of Vermont, a descendant of William and Deborah Winslow Norwood.

Dear Childring. Mount dt. 10 March 1808

as we have an oppertunity to write you a few lines we wish to inform you we are all well and harty. and blessed be God for it we received your Letter...and you may well Conclude we have ben very restless and uneasy ever Since we heard of you being Sick. I hope you will consider tis the hand of provadenc. and be contanted under afflections. dear Childring we as your tender Parrents Bag you to remember your Maker and put your trust in him as he is the only one you Can promis your Selves in life health or happaness...although we are absent and a grat Destance apart Stell our minds is with you...and wish you all the blessings that Haven Can afford....we wish to be remembred to Mrs Winslow and all your freinds So we wish you well and Haven's Blessings to etend you...from your affectenate Parants Joshua & Ruth Norwood
