        The following information comes from Volumes 1-3 of The Woodville Republican: Mississippi's Oldest Existing Newspaper, by O'Levia Neil Wilson Wiese, published by Heritage Books, Inc. The dates covered are Dec 18,1823-Jan 9, 1855, with some issues missing. Keep in mind that dates listed are dates of the newspaper issues, unless other wise stated.

  1. Oct 1826 Married by Rev.George A Irion, Mr.Robert Norwood to
  2. Miss Levice Sojourner, all of this county. [County is Wilkinson]

  3. Feb 1829 J. Joor, Execr., of John Norwood/s estate will sell land
  4. known as the place where Col. Joseph J.Scott resided.

  5. Sept 1830 Died the 15th, in the 3rd year of her age, Jane,
  6. daughter of Robert Norwood.

  7. Nov 1831 N. Norwood and also Robert Norwood wish to sell their
  8. plantations and etc. Their plantations are 6 miles from Ft.Adams,
  9. and both join each other.

  10. June 1833 Elizabeth Chandler, admx., and James M. Norwood,
  11. admr., of the James Chandler's estate in Amite Co.

  12. May 1834 Died the 7th, at the house of Philip Noland, in this
  13. County, in the 24th year of her age, Mrs. Levice Norwood, consort
  14. of Mr. Robert Norwood. She left an infant and a disconsolate
  15. husband.

  16. Feb 1835 Jno. McNulty and Jno. L. Wall dissolves their
  17. copartnership and have associated themselves in business at Fort
  18. Adams with Nicholas Norwood. [John Wall was married to a
  19. Lovelace girl.]

  20. June 1835 Mr. Robert Norwood's health has declined and must
  21. leave the southern country, consequently he has withdrawn his
  22. name from our firm. Fells, Saunders, and Norwood.

  23. May, 1836 Married the 12th by the Hon. C.P. Smith, Mr. Robert
  24. Norwood to Miss E.E.C. Lewis, all of this county. [ Smith is
  25. probably Cotesworth Prestwood Smith. And the Lewis family is the
  26. owner of Woodville Republican currently.]

  27. Oct 1836 Wm.Morgan Tew, admr., in right of his wife Sarah
  28. and Sarah Young Tew, admrs., of the Francis P. Wall estate, will
  29. sell land. One tract known as "Berry Hill" containing 400 arpens,
  30. bounded by lands of the estate of Gliza Ann Ginn, the lands of
  31. Robert Norwood, and the lands of Thomas Lovelace heirs, land
  32. formerly belonged to John Wall, deceased. [John Wall was married
  33. to Thomas Lovelace's sister. Thomas is my ancestor.]

  34. July,1837 Copartnership of Jno. L. Wall and Nics. Norwood has
  35. been dissolved.

  36. June 1838 Married the 30th by the Rev. Mr. Fish, Mr. Nicholas
  37. Norwood to Mrs. M.A. Hamilton, all of this county.

  38. Nov 1838 Noel Norwood and Elias Norwood, admrs. of the
  39. Martha Norwood estate will sell a tract of 361 acres and a tract of
  40. acres of land. Also on the same day they will sell all personal
  41. estate belonging to the estate.
