Spelling Contract: “Get to 50 or more by Friday”
Directions: Each activity below is assigned a point value. Choose
from the list of items you wish to complete that meet or exceed 50 points.
Complete all work in your spelling notebook by Friday morning. Be neat and
learn your spelling words for life!
SPELLING WORD CHOICES
1) Write your spelling words in ABC order. (20 points)
2) Write a poem using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points)
3) Use graph paper or the website www.puzzlemaker.com to create a word search using all of
your spelling words. (30 points)
4) Create a cartoon strip using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points)
5) Write your spelling words 4 times each. (20 points)
6) Write each spelling word you missed on the pretest 10 times each. (15 points)
7) Divide each spelling word into syllables. (10 points)
8) Put spelling words in sentences. Each sentence must connote the meaning of
the word. (One word per sentence) (20 points)
9) Use the dictionary to find 10 of your spelling words. Write the definition
for each word in your spelling notebook. (20 points)
10) Rainbow Words – Write your spelling words with a crayon. Trace over each
word with another color. Now trace each word one more time with another color.
DO NOT use black or brown. (30 points)
11) Ladder Words – Write each spelling word as shown below: (20 points)

12) Cut 10 of your spelling words out of a newspaper or magazine. Glue them
into your spelling notebook. Don’t use too much glue! (20 points)
13) Cut out a picture from a newspaper or a magazine and use spelling words to
write a story about the picture. (10 points)
14) Tape record yourself saying and spelling each word. Bring in the tape for
me. (20 points)

Write the words in reverse ABC order (10 points)

Write your words 3x each in neat cursive (10 points)

Write newspaper headlines using your spelling words (20 points)
18) Make a word search with all of your words (30 points)
19) Write your words using one color for vowels and another color for

20) Draw a picture illustrating each spelling word (30 points)
21) Write each word in special letters (bubbly, squiggly, block, etc) (10
points)
22) Write a letter to a friend using all of your spelling words (30 points)
23) Write the words backwards and forwards (20 points)
24) Design a bookmark and write your list of words on the bookmark (20 points)
25) Arrange the letters of each word in abc order
