Forever Changed
As I sit watching in total disbelief,
My heart and mind scream this can't be happening
Not here, not now, how can this be?
I try to comprehend as I am chilled to the bone
I watch the Towers crumble and the Pentagon fall
Explosions rip the air and fires light the sky
I see people fleeing in terror
So many others are just gone or unknown
The horror begins to be real
Who? How? Why? Most of all why?
So much devastation in one instant
All done as the eyes of the world watch
How can this possibly be?
Why would someone do such a despicable thing?
What kind of madman could think up this insane plan?
My head swirls with all the questions and possibilities
Days later, the images haunt my dreams
The pictures are permanently etched in my brain
An unbelievable fireball and thousands are dead
Not nameless, faceless creatures, but real people
It was an act of war, even more an act of cowardice
It was meant to kill the blameless and rip the nation apart
The skyline looks like hell on Earth, descriptions virtually
impossible
It tore away what little innocence remained in this country
But Americans never give up and never forget
Divided we are not, new pride and strength in this country is
unwavering
A horrible price has been paid, but believe justice against the
responsible will be exacted
Life goes on, it must, but it's been forever changed
In remembrance off September 11,2001. No one is forgotten. United we stand.
