Last year right after I got my Rose and joined the Viking list, Marilyn Sage led us on the journey of a Mystery Quilt.  This is mine.  I was so proud of it because it really was a journey into the unknow for me, not being a quilter.    I chose the watermelon print and coordinating fabrics (from Hancock Fabrics) because I knew my mom would love it, and I gave her the quilt and pillow for mother's day, May 1997.  I sent it to her before I took a picture, so that's why I am a year late getting it up on my site.  I took the pictures last month on a visit.

I did the pillow in a "circle attachment class" I took shortly after doing the quilt.  The circles in the center are done in red metallic thread.  I did full circles and cut them in half, sewing them in like piping, for the border.  The watermelons were done the same way using the watermelon colored fabric.  At the bottom I stitched one row of off-white satin stitching for the rind then a row of green for the skin.  I drew the seeds on with a permanent black pen.

Thank you, Marilyn, for being the tour guide on this adventure--got anymore planned?
